Expanding Your Minecraft Universe: Adding Servers on PS4

Minecraft Universe

Minecraft, the popular sandbox game, offers players a boundless universe to explore and create. While the PlayStation 4 (PS4) version of Minecraft has traditionally been limited to playing with friends on local networks, recent updates have introduced the ability to add external servers. This exciting feature allows PS4 players to expand their Minecraft universe by connecting with a larger community and exploring new realms. In this article, we will guide you through the process of adding servers on Minecraft PS4, enabling you to unlock a world of endless possibilities.

Step 1: Ensure Your Game is Updated

Before you can add external servers to Minecraft on your PS4, ensure that your game is updated to the latest version. Developers regularly release updates that introduce new features and improvements, including the ability to join external servers. To check for updates, navigate to the game's main menu, select the Minecraft application, and press the Options button on your controller. From there, choose "Check for Updates" to download and install any available updates.

Step 2: Access the Servers Menu

Launch Minecraft on your PS4 and navigate to the main menu. From there, select the "Play" option. In the subsequent screen, choose the "Servers" tab to access the servers menu. This is where you will find a list of available servers that you can join.

Step 3: Add a Server

To add a server to your Minecraft PS4 edition, select the "Add Server" option in the servers menu. You will be prompted to enter the server's address. The server address typically consists of an IP address or a domain name followed by a port number (e.g., play.servername.com:25565). Obtain the server address from the server's website or community where you wish to join.

Step 4: Customize Server Settings (if applicable)

After entering the server address, you may have the option to customize additional settings, depending on the server. These settings can include the server's name, game mode, or difficulty level. Customize the settings according to your preferences or leave them as default if no changes are necessary.

Step 5: Save and Join the Server

Once you have entered the server address and customized any desired settings, select the "Save" option. The server will now appear in your list of added servers within the servers menu. To join the server, select it from the list and choose the "Join Server" option. Minecraft will initiate the connection process and transport you to the selected server's world, where you can begin playing and interacting with other players.

Step 6: Troubleshooting Connection Issues

If you encounter any connection issues, ensure that you have entered the server address correctly. Double-check the accuracy of the IP address or domain name, and verify that the port number is correct. Additionally, ensure that you have a stable internet connection and that the server you are attempting to join is currently online and accessible.

Note: It's important to remember that adding external servers on Minecraft PS4 is only possible on the Bedrock Edition of the game, which replaced the Legacy Console Edition on PlayStation. If you are still using the Legacy Console Edition, you will not have the option to add external servers.

By following these steps, you can easily add servers to Minecraft on your PS4, expanding your gaming experience and connecting with a wider community. Joining servers allows you to explore new worlds, collaborate with other players, and embark on thrilling multiplayer adventures. So, expand your Minecraft universe today and discover the endless possibilities that await you on external servers.
